Keyword Insights
Google’s latest addition to array of tools one can use to assist their Adword’s campaign perform better is the Keyword Auction Insights Report. The new report will allow one to see comparative performance information on other advertisers who are participating in the same auctions as you. It shows the display URL of the advertiser who is competing in that auction.
The auction insights report is a keyword-level report that provides information on the following statistics:
Average Position: The ad rank for you compared to the rank of other advertisers.
Impression Share: The percentage of impressions you receive divided by the estimated number of impressions you were eligible to receive, based on target settings, approval statuses, bids & quality score.
Overlap Rate: How often you and your competitors receive impressions at the same time for a particular keyword.
Position Above Rate: How many your times your ad appears about your competitors
Top of Page Percent: How often your ad appears at the top of the page, above the organic search results.
While the new tool provides an excellent insight into the keyword performance it does not reveal the competitors account settings. It provides the same data as you can get from performing your own Google Searches just in one handy, easy to access report.
The report can help you make strategic decisions about bids, budgets and keywords choices, by developing an understanding of your competitors performance against your own and utilising that information by showing where you are succeeding and where you may be missing opportunities for an improved performance.
