Feel the Google Love

Entering the world of online marketing can feel daunting for the uninitiated. Taking that first step is half of the journey and, once you find the right tools and people to take along with you, the end goal appears much closer than originally thought. Google can at first seem like a confusing maze of tools and features, but dig a little deeper and you’ll soon see that Google actually wants to work with you! The more you help Google (and we’ll get to how in just a few seconds) the more Google will help you.

Firstly, when a user is searching for your business they need to enter the right terms (keywords) into the search bar. So it makes sense that as an advertiser you know what your customers are searching for and provide the relevant information. Google has come up with a brilliant way to reward advertisers for providing relevant ads. This system is called “Quality Score” and is one of the most important factors to get right from an advertisers point of view. It will control how much you need to bid per click and it will trigger ads in a higher position.

That’s where the Client Managers here at SponsoredLinX step in. Their job is to help your business create the most relevant ads they can. They aim to do this through setting a budget for your AdWords Campaigns which hits the most direct targeted audience. What this means is that the Campaigns run by your Client Manager are highly relevant to the user target group you want to attract. This in turn increases the business exposure of your company and increases your ROI. What this means for Google though, is that it’s able to deliver search results which are suitable for the users search request. Google’s main objective is to source the world’s information and provide the most relevant results to users. If your Google AdWords Campaign is able to help Google do that, Google will reward you with improved Quality Scores and a higher frequency of the ad rotation. To cite Google directly, their first mission statement says they will aim to, “focus on the user and all else will follow – since the beginning, we’ve focused on providing the best user experience possible. Whether we’re designing a new Internet browser or a new tweak to the look of the homepage, we take great care to ensure that they will ultimately serve you, rather than our own internal goal or bottom line”.

How do Google measure how well you’re working for them? This is a combination of your AdWords and SEO efforts combined. If Google can see you are actively tweaking and working on both strategies, Google will reward you. Remember, Google’s revenue comes from advertising, and while organic search results are important, Google also wants you to advertise with them. In this instance, you need to balance your investment between the two avenues to reap the maximum benefits.

From a SEO perspective, having a trustworthy website is key. If you have this, then, if your SEO is doing what it is supposed to and Google Search presents your website high in its results, Google will be ‘happy’ to present it. Making your website a relevant search result means the traffic Google directs your way won’t bounce back and reflect poorly on Google; SEO can only do so much. Google also have their reputation to consider and, as such, are constantly working on their sophisticated algorithms to deliver optimum search results. Google can after all contribute their success to delivering better results than its competitors.
